Pain in general—no matter how mild—is something best not relegated to the irrelevant file of your brain. That includes discomfort in your feet. Left untreated, a tiny discomfort can skyrocket into the kind of crippling shockwave that’ll make you want to stay off your feet the rest of the day. Don’t let it get to that point. See Family Footcare’s amazing foot doctor in Farmington Hills.

Wait, Morton’s neuroma? What is that? Fair questions. Here’s a nutshell answer: it’s a foot condition that might feel oddly familiar to you. Ever had the sensation of having a pebble rolling around inside the bottom of your shoe? Yep, that’s what it is. Of course, that’s only the first of many other symptoms to follow. Morton’s Neuroma is essentially a thickening of tissue that surrounds that nerve around the upper foot and toes. Other common symptoms include: tingling or numbness of the toes, and a burning pain in the ball of the foot that may also radiate into the toes. No need to panic—it’s incredibly easy to treat. The following applies to people who are most predisposed to developing Morton’s neuroma: foot deformities (bunions, hammertoes, and flatfeet), wearing high heels (places extra pressure on the toes and ball of the foot), playing certain sports (high-impact athletic activities such as running). For more information, or if you need treatment, don’t hesitate to contact a professional. Reach out to Family Footcare to finally meet with our foot doctor in Farmington Hills.

Why endure something when you can just get it fixed as soon as possible? Don’t put your body in anymore risk. All you have to do is pick up the phone and dial Family Footcare. Then promptly schedule an appointment to fix that that stride—courtesy of our foot doctor in Farmington Hills. And that’s all there is to it.

An ulceration is an absence of or defect in the normal lining of the skin layers. Another way of saying it is that an ulceration or wound is a hole or cavity in the skin that may be wet or dry and potentially, very resistive to healing. Patients with diabetes, poor circulation and those that are bedridden may have increased tendencies to develop ulcerations. There are many types of ulcers including those caused by loss of sensation of the skin, decreased blood flow, pressure to a specific area of the foot and ulcers due to problems with the valves in the veins. After a thorough examination, the foot doctor in Farmington Hills will assess the cause of your wound and create an appropriate treatment plan.

The foot doctor in Farmington Hills has many different treatments for ulcers based upon the type of ulceration involved largely determines the specific method of care. In general, ulcers are treated with debridement (removal) of the surrounding tissue and any nonviable tissue. This will help relieve pressure from the ulcer. Some patients are treated with non-weight bearing of the foot to help decrease pressure on the ulcer. Topical wound gels and creams are also used to keep certain ulcers clean and hydrated. Don’t put this off any longer. Give us a call today.

48301 Flat Feet

If you are experiencing pain due to flat feet, you will definitely want to visit us at Family Footcare, P.C. At our podiatry practice, you can be treated for your 48301 flat feet, as well as for other foot care problems.

Some people have flat feet all their lives and are not really bothered by the condition. For other patients, flat feet become extremely painful, and they can even cause other leg and back problems. If this is the case, you will benefit from coming to our podiatry practice for care of your 48301 flat feet. When a person has flat feet, the foot will actually appear as though it is collapsed halfway when a patient is walking or standing. The inside of the foot will touch the ground while you walk. If you have flat feet, you may be complaining about wearing out shoes quickly because of the position at which your foot strikes the ground. When patients have flat feet, symptoms can include fatigue, cramping, bunions, corns, calluses, shin splints, and heel pain. The time to contact our foot doctor about flat feet is if you are experiencing pain. Usually this is the case when flat feet develop over time, and the patient is not born with them. Flat feet can be treated at our office with prescribed orthotics. Our foot doctor can also provide you with foot or ankle supportive devices. When you come to our practice you will be seen by one of our expert doctors, just one of whom is Dr. Milton J. Stern. There are other conservative approaches to treating flat feet. If none of these approaches are successful, our foot doctor may recommend foot surgery for correction of your flat feet and to alleviate foot pain.

Beverly Hills MI Podiatry Clinic

Bunions in Beverly Hills MI

Beverly Hills MI Podiatry Clinic

Beverly Hills MI Podiatry Clinic

A bunion isn’t very big, but it can be responsible for a lot of discomfort and pain, possibly leading to other complications. At Family Footcare, P.C., we’re the experts when it comes to the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of bunions.

What exactly is a bunion? It’s a bony protrusion at the base of your big toe, where the joint attaches to the rest of the foot. You can get one due to excessive pressure being put on the big toe joint, the result of the way you walk or wearing shoes that are too tight around the toes. Susceptibility to bunions can be inherited, making it more likely that you will develop one than someone who does not have that family history. Women get bunions more frequently than men do, because they often wear high heels. Not every bunion will cause you pain, but it’s a good idea to have it checked anyway Our Beverly Hills MI podiatry clinic can prevent it from getting worse. You may find it difficult to walk normally, which creates obstacles to doing your regular everyday work and tasks. The treatment protocol will be dependent on the severity of your bunion. For mild cases, simple lifestyle adjustments may be enough. These include switching to more comfortable footwear and using arch supports or bunion pads in your shoes so that your weight will be redistributed. Surgery is a last resort. Our Beverly Hills MI podiatry clinic will only recommend it if non-invasive methods are not sufficient to achieve the desired results. If it does come down to that, however, you can be assured that the procedure is effective and safe, done on an outpatient basis here at our Beverly Hills MI podiatry clinic.

Southfield Plantar Fasciitis

Best Foot Doctor in Southfield

Southfield Plantar Fasciitis

Southfield Plantar Fasciitis

If you are experiencing problems with heel pain, you will want to see one of our expert podiatrists at Family Footcare, P.C. Our podiatrists, Dr. Milton J. Stern, Dr. Randy K. Kaplan, and Dr. Louis Geller, are all able to provide you with expert treatment for Southfield plantar fasciitis.

When you have Southfield plantar fasciitis, you have a swelling or irritation in the fibrous bands that support the bottom of your foot. These bands of tendons run from under your heel and fan out to the fat pads near your toes. Most patients who suffer with plantar fasciitis have symptoms near where the fibrous bands attached to the heel. When a person stands they will experience foot pain. In many cases a heel spur or calcium deposit may form due to the constant pulling on the heel. When a patient has plantar fasciitis, they will often experience pain when they first stand and get out of bed in the morning. The heel pain is extreme when the patient first gets up, but will quickly reduce in intensity. Sometimes when the patient sits for a long period of time and gets up again they will feel pain once again. Heel pain is generally caused by repetitive stress and strain, by a patient being overweight, or by an improper walking gait. In order for the heel pain to be properly treated, it is important that our podiatrist completely assesses the cause for your heel pain. Treatments of heel pain can include stretching exercises, prescription orthotics, foot taping and padding, or possible injection of anti-inflammatory medications. Physical therapy is sometimes recommended with heel pain as well. Foot orthotics can provide support and stability along with improved weight distribution, and is often an important part of treatment of heel pain. If the arch can be controlled during weight-bearing, and conservative care is used, 90% of plantar fasciitis pain can be successfully treated. In rare cases, foot surgery may be necessary.

If you are looking for expert treatment for your Southfield plantar fasciitis, contact us today for an appointment.
