Taking care of your feet and your overall foot health may be more important than you think. Since many of us are up and about day in and day out, we may not realize just how much we put our feet through on a regular basis. There are plenty of things that can affect the way your feet feel, operate, and the state of their overall health so it helps to pay attention, take note of any changes, and to see a podiatrist if anything seems amiss. Here at Tower Podiatry, our Central Park South podiatrist, Dr. Thurm, is here to help with a wide range of different services, treatments and other foot health related care.

When it comes to foot health, it helps to pay attention to how your feet feel everyday and to make sure that you take care of them regularly as well. Caring for your feet can be simple, including everyday things like making sure they are clean and dry, changing socks when needed, wearing comfortable shoes that provide support, and giving your feet time to rest after a long day. It also helps to look at the texture of the skin and nails on the feet as well, especially since things like fungal infections, ingrown nails, and other issues are commonplace and can cause problems while also being uncomfortable. Foot deformities are also quite common, and things like bunions and hammertoes can occur over time due to a number of reasons, mainly friction and pressure, leading to changes in the shape of your foot, increased sensitivity, pain or discomfort, and other unsightly changes as well as medical ones. Here with our Central Park South podiatrist here at Tower Podiatry, Dr. Thurm, can take a look at any issues or concerns you have and make sure that you are provided with the proper care and treatment depending on what is ailing you.

If you are looking for treatment concerning hammertoes, bunions, athlete’s foot, heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, or other issues, look no further than Tower Podiatry. Call or visit us today and we will set up an appointment for you to meet with Dr. Thurm right away.

Morton’s Neuroma is a condition that can cause pain, possibly severe. At Family Footcare, P.C., our foot specialist in Southfield has the experience to diagnose, assess, and treat Morton’s Neuroma, along with many other foot diseases and ailments.

What exactly is this disease? In most cases, it forms on the ball of your foot between where the third and fourth toes are. You may feel as if you have a small obstruction in your shoe, such as a pebble. Morton’s Neuroma develops as the result of a thickening of the tissue that surrounds the nerves leading to your toes. Typical symptoms include sharp pain, numbness, stinging, and burning. In addition, there are certain factors that can increase your risk of Morton’s Neuroma. Among them are jogging, running, wearing tight shoes or high heels, and having bunions, hammertoes, flat feet, or high arches. Let our foot specialist in Southfield give you a checkup and determine if you have Morton’s Neuroma. The diagnostic process contains a physical examination as well as x-rays, or in some cases an ultrasound or an MRI. Treatment options will be determined by the severity of your pain. Arch supports or shoe orthotics, inserts put inside your footwear, may be good enough for mild cases. Other possibilities are steroid injections, and surgery. The good news is that the majority of times, Morton’s Neuroma can be treated non-invasively. When surgery is the best choice, it can involve releasing the tissue around the nerve, or removing the nerve entirely. You will be advised as to which is most applicable for you, and in either situation, you will find that healing occurs fairly quickly.

When you experience any of the symptoms that are listed above, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We will schedule you to come in for an exam.
